Description

Licorice or Glycyrrhiza glabra is a wild European plant from the Fabaceae family, like golden rain treeindigo and kudzu.
It is native to southern Europe and Asia.
It is a herbaceous plant measuring between 1 and 1.5 meters in height.
Licorice seeds are found in pods in September and October, they are round and resemble those of Kudzu.

Its roots are very aromatic and are harvested at the end of the year.
It is a very powerful medicinal plant with many virtues.
Externally, it is used to treat many conditions.

In cooking, its roots release powerful aromas without needing to be heated.
Like vanilla beans, they can be used to flavor sugar, sauces and food.

The best time to sow licorice seeds is from March until the end of April.

It is recommended to scarify the seeds with abrasive paper then soak the seeds for 4 hours in lukewarm water before sowing in order to accelerate germination.
