Description

Lemon balm, also called Melissa officinalis in Latin, is a medicinal perennial herb from the Lamiaceae family.
It measures 40 to 60 cm in height.
Its white flowers appear from June to September.
Lemon balm seeds are small and black like those of tropical blood sage.
Its leaves give off a very powerful lemon scent, which makes it a highly aromatic plant.

This medicinal herb is used for its aromatic leaves which can be purchased from herbalists.
When you crush its leaves they give off a very sweet lemony smell due to the essential oil.
It has many therapeutic properties just like hops or California poppy.
She treats many conditions.

The sowing period for lemon balm seeds begins in April until the end of May.

Sow the seeds in a box of potting soil then cover them with a few millimeters of soil.
Gently water the crop using a sprayer.
Finally, place the seedling box in a warm, humid place at a temperature of at least 20°C.
Germination is rapid, the first seedlings will emerge 1 to 2 weeks after sowing.

At the end of the year after harvesting the leaves, the lemon balm will have to be cut back.
